#1 Find a lender that looks at the little details
First, you want to pick a lender who looks at all the little details of your loan. One that makes adjustments in a way that saves you on what interest rate you get, because that rate’s going to stay with you for a long time. A good loan officer and a good mortgage lender looks at those things and makes suggestions to you.
For example, sometimes people are refinancing and they don’t realize that if they lower their loan amount by a thousand dollars, it will change their interest rate. Things like that get overlooked all the time. Those are the kinds of things that a seasoned quality loan officer looks at. And those are the things we look at on every single file.
#2 A no-pressure environment
One thing you definitely do not want is pressure. This is a big decision when you’re buying a home or refinancing your house. You want to make sure that when you’re making a decision on this refinance or purchase, it’s in a no-pressure environment.
In fact, we tell people not to refinance if it’s not in their best interest. We also want to make sure everyone understands what they’re getting themselves into. You know—the payment, the costs, all of those things up front—so they’re not being surprised down the road.

#3 Options
We’ve set ourselves up as a broker at Utah Mortgage Pros. What’s great about that is we are always shopping these lenders to see who has the best deals. Then we can shop for you and lock you in with a company that is reputable and has the best rates. It saves you time because you don’t have to go shopping, and it gives you a better deal.
#4 Systems maximizing expert advice
You want to look for mortgage companies that have systems in place that maximize expert advice. My business partner and I have been doing loans for about 22 years. Our team we have is very schooled, and we work together all the time. We’ve all been doing loans for a while, so you know you’re getting expert advice the whole way through the system. We work with great lenders, we have lots of long term advice, and that just translates into better decision making for you.
So we’d love to help you with your next loan. Feel free to give us a call anytime, we look forward to talking with you!
